When I embarked on my new career journey after having my baby girl, I felt a deep desire to create a space where I could share my thoughts, experiences, and the lessons that shaped me. We all have a story to tell, and I believe there is purpose in every journey we take. This is how Into the Light Creatives was born.

The name came to me naturally as I reflected on my path, symbolising light, transformation, growth, and the wisdom gained through life’s challenges. It also reflects the little light that entered our world and inspired me to follow a new purpose.

Motherhood brought profound shifts in my life, especially the journey of rediscovering myself and my purpose. Each stage, from career changes to personal revelations, taught me invaluable lessons. Now, I share these insights through digital nursery prints, positive affirmations, blogs and coaching for mothers and mothers-to-be.

Whether you’re adjusting to life with a new baby, considering a career change, or trying to find balance in motherhood, you are not alone. There is always light to guide the way … even when things feel dark.

Lessons from the Journey

1. Transformation Begins in the Dark

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that growth often begins in the darkest of places. Before we emerge into the light, we must navigate uncertainty. Transformation happens beneath the surface before it becomes visible. If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed, know that this phase is a part of your evolution. Change, while daunting, is often the bridge between who we were and who we are becoming. The most profound growth occurs when we lean into the discomfort of the unknown, trusting that light will follow. This is one of the most difficult things to do…I know!

2. Signs Are Everywhere, Trust Them

A meaningful part of my journey has been the unexpected symbol of the bee. Whenever I have a bright new idea or I’m on the verge of something significant, a bee will often appear, as if to tell me I’m on the right path. It might sound strange, but it’s happened too many times to ignore!

During my pregnancy, I noticed bees all around me, almost as if they were speaking to me. One day, while at work, a swarm of bees flew into the room, drawn to the light streaming through the ceiling. I felt a mix of panic and awe, not only because I was pregnant and surrounded by bees but because it felt so significant. In African culture, bees are believed to follow new life. At the time, my colleagues didn’t know I was expecting, but I couldn’t help but smile when one of them asked, “Are you sure you’re not pregnant?” That moment became a turning point for me, a reminder that the universe often sends us signals, we just need to listen.

These signs can come in different forms, sometimes through recurring dreams, unexpected encounters, or a sudden feeling of being in the ‘knowing field’. When we tune in and trust the nudges we receive, we align ourselves with a path that is meant for us.

3. We Are Drawn to Light

As I pondered the name for my business, I thought back to the bees and realised that, like them, we are all drawn to light. More than that, we have the power to create light for others, to inspire and guide them. This is the heart of what Into the Light represents. I realised my calling is to encourage others by shining my own light, helping them find their own inner light to illuminate their path. It may sound quite cliché but I really have the vision to leave the world a better place once I’m gone from the physical world.

So often, we feel we must have everything figured out before we can be a source of encouragement to others, but I’ve learned that our journeys, with all their twists and turns can serve as a guiding light for someone else. By sharing our struggles and triumphs, we remind others that they are not alone – here’s to jumping all in!

4. Healing and Wisdom Can Often Come from Pain

Not long after deciding on the name Into the Light, I received a lamp I had ordered weeks earlier for my father. Its arrival felt like a sign, a confirmation that I was on the right path. My father and I have brought both challenges and wisdom into each other’s lives, shaping my understanding of resilience and forgiveness. That moment reminded me that after every period of darkness, light will always follow.

Pain often acts as a teacher, offering wisdom that can only be understood in hindsight. The difficult chapters of our lives are not in vain, they are actually there to serve, to shape us, refine us, and prepare us for what’s to come – to create light and space for others. It’s through these moments of pain that we develop empathy, strength, and a deeper appreciation for the light that follows.

5. Embracing Change and Letting Go

One of the hardest but most important lessons I’ve learned is that we must allow ourselves to evolve. Holding onto past versions of ourselves – whether it’s a career we no longer love, an identity that no longer fits, or relationships that no longer serve us truly only keeps us stuck. Growth requires letting go.

Stepping into something new, whether it’s a business venture, a new passion, or even motherhood, requires courage. It’s okay to grieve the parts of ourselves that we leave behind, but we must also celebrate the person we are becoming. Life is about seasons, and each one brings its lessons, gifts, and celebrations.

Walking This Path Together

Into the Light is not just about my journey; it’s about helping other mothers and mothers-to-be navigate their transitions and connect to their little lights.

This space is for reflection, for connection, and growth. I want Into the Light Creatives to be a space where we uplift one another, sharing insights and experiences, and where we remind each other that we are never alone on this journey into motherhood.

I invite you to join me in this journey of self-discovery. Let’s uncover the beauty of life as we find our way Into the Light. Because no matter how dark things may seem, light is always within reach.
